IGT Umbria · No fixed vintage · Different every year
IGT Umbria
Rosso
The freest wine in the cellar. It is born from the tanks left over after the selection for the Montefalco DOC Rosso: different grapes, different years, different ideas. It is the only wine where I let myself play — and every year it comes out different.
Take it to dinner and something happens: an argument opens up at the table. Some people love it, some say “not for me”, but nobody is indifferent. Crisp, fruity, simple in the best sense of the word. The wine you take to a picnic and bring home empty.

The tasting · slowly, as it should be
Eye, nose,
mouth
The eye
Bright ruby red with violet reflections. A lively, young color that announces the freshness of the sip.
The nose
Primary aromas, crisp direct fruit. Every vintage brings its own surprise: the one with carbonic maceration of the native grape came out with a marked note of chinotto — something nobody had smelled before.
The mouth
Easier to drink and to read than the Montefalco DOC Rosso. A delicate palate, light tannins, good acidity and just the right length. Sometimes with a thread of residual sugar too. A clean wine, for the whole meal.
How it is made · the cellar laboratory
Every year
an experiment
It follows the same road as the Montefalco DOC Rosso — steel fermentation, spontaneous malolactic, no wood — but with the tanks and the grapes left over from the selection. And that is where the game begins.
One year the carbonic maceration of the native grape, one year a slightly off-dry blend, one year who knows. The beauty of these experiments is that they cannot be repeated: when that vintage runs out, that story ends.
The details
From the cellar
The chinotto vintage
Carbonic maceration of the native grape: what came out was almost a deep rosé with a chinotto note nobody had smelled before. Blended with a slightly off-dry wine from the same grape, it became soft and moreish. Gone in six months.
This is the only wine that lets me experiment, that lets me make it genuinely different every year — and play with people a little, and ask them: what do you think, what does it do to you?— Giorgio Brunozzi
