The experience · Colle Arfuso, Montefalco

It isn’t
a tour.
It’s a safari.

The jeep pulls away. The gravel crunches under the wheels. Dust lifts. The sun is already warm — or just about to set, depending on the ride you chose. And that’s when it hits you: this isn’t an organized tour — you are inside someone’s working day, on land he farms every day.

A jeep through the rows, a cellar built into my grandparents’ house, six wines to taste with Sagrantino always on the team. Small groups, 18 people at most. I take you myself — and from the top you’ll see the whole Umbra Valley open up below the vines.

Enosafari Classic Most chosen

€69 /adult

If the Light is a taste, the Classic is the whole immersion. We cross the entire hill: the Hill of Bees, where our silent workforce lives, then the descent towards Scimella, where the ground tips away under the wheels and we drive right between the rows. Back at the house: all six rooms of the cellar, and a proper family lunch.

  • Extended jeep ride: from the top of the hill down to the valley
  • All six rooms of the cellar, from fermentation to the drying racks
  • Six wines, including the Secret Wine and the dry Sagrantino
  • A light lunch: truffle bruschetta, cheeses with honey, Umbrian cured meats
  • Espresso to finish, water, and a Kids’ Kit

11:30 — We set off

The jeep and the hill

We climb into the open jeep and cross the hill, from the top down to the valley. We stop where the landscape has something to say: the wind, the clay and limestone soil, which way the slope faces. At the Hill of Bees I introduce you to our silent workforce.

+40 min — The descent

Between the rows, down towards Scimella

The part nobody sees coming: the ground tips away under the wheels and we go straight through the middle of the rows. This is where you understand why Sagrantino comes from this particular hill: it is the most tannic grape in Italy, and it only truly grows here, within a few kilometers of Montefalco.

+1 hour — The cellar

The six rooms of my grandparents’ house

The cellar is built into my grandparents’ old house. Six rooms, from fermentation to the grapes drying on racks. Stories, not lectures — and ask me anything you like.

+1h20 — Corks come out

Six wines and a family lunch

In the old stable, restored, or under the gazebo with the view: six wines, including the Secret Wine we keep for Enosafari guests, and the dry Sagrantino. On the table: bruschetta, truffle, cheeses and Umbrian cured meats. Coffee to close.

We spent the most wonderful afternoon with Giorgio and Fiorella at this wonderful small family owned vineyard.

An amazing wine tour! We started in the jeep in the winery's vineyards. Then we tasted the wonderful wines...

If you’re giving it as a gift · The Message in a Bottle

The gift arrives
in a bottle

A bottle of clear glass. Cork, sealing wax, red twine. Inside, no wine: a rolled-up message with your own words written on it. It’s your Enosafari voucher, turned into something real to hold.

You can give the Enosafari as a link. Quick, easy — and impossible to unwrap. So we make the Message in a Bottle instead: we seal your voucher inside a real bottle and send it to whoever you want to surprise, in its black box. In the box there’s also the Enosafari corkscrew — because a bottle like this gets uncorked, not opened.

It happened at a birthday dinner. The box goes round the table and everyone thinks: wine. Then someone lifts it — far too light. Everyone leans in. Corkscrew, cork, and the message slides out of the glass: the present was a day up here, among the rows of Montefalco.

How it works: pick the voucher on the booking page and, at checkout, add the Message in a Bottle: €45 on top of the voucher, everything included — the sealed bottle with your words, the Enosafari corkscrew, the black box, and delivery to the person you want to surprise, in Italy and anywhere in Europe. You write the message; we take care of the rest.

You bought the voucher without the bottle

It happens, and it takes a minute to fix. Tell us your voucher code and we print exactly what you already wrote — your words included — roll it up, seal it inside the bottle and send it to the person you want to surprise. You don’t have to write anything again.

The weather
doesn’t run this place

A

We go down into the cellar

The jeep ride becomes a proper tasting among the barrels: with the “wine thief” we draw Sagrantino straight from the wood and taste it while it is still becoming wine. A plan B that plenty of people choose on purpose.

B

Change the date, free

We move your booking to another day that suits you. No fee, no argument.

C

It turns into wine and oil

We turn everything you paid into bottles and tins to take home. The day changes shape; the value stays yours.

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before. All the details, in plain language, in the booking terms.

Real
questions

Can I bring the children?
Of course — this is a home, not a museum. Under 3s come in free, and 4–12s get the reduced ticket on every experience. They drink juice or water, they eat with us, and they get the Kids’ Kit with paper and crayons. The wine, obviously, is for grown-ups only.
What about the dog?
He’s welcome too. Most of the experience is outdoors, and there’s always water for four-legged guests.
Do you speak English?
Yes — every experience runs in Italian or in English. Just tell us when you book.
I’m vegetarian / coeliac. Is that a problem?
Not at all. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are there on request — put it in the notes when you book, or let us know a little in advance.
How do I get to you? Do I need a 4x4?
No. The road up to Colle Arfuso is paved and easy in any car. The dirt tracks between the fields start after that — and those are our job, with the jeep. Hotel pick-up can be quoted once you’ve booked.
There are more than 18 of us. Can you do that?
Yes — with a private quote built around your group. Write to me e organizziamo.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting dusty. Everything else is on us — just turn up.

The hill is waiting

the rows,
the glass in your hand.
