Montefalco DOC
Grechetto
There is a perfect moment for this wine: a summer aperitivo under the pergola, a plate of fish just arrived, a light pasta. Grechetto is fresh, direct, with a body that surprises — and that almond finish that takes you back to the glass.
I press it on my grandfather's hand press, the one with the rollers: whole crates of grapes, stems included, acting as a natural filter. A soft pressing — the juice comes out at low pressure and brings only the best part with it.

The tasting · slowly, as it should be
Eye, nose,
mouth
The eye
Straw yellow with green reflections. The right ripeness — exactly at the point, unhurried — gives a bright, living color, the color of a young, fresh wine.
The nose
Fresh fruit, pear to the fore. No wood, no masks: what you smell is pure Grechetto, clean, with good minerality. Nicely direct, nicely fresh.
The mouth
Fresh and crisp, with real length. And in the finish it arrives: that almond note, slightly bitter, that divides people. Some love it, some less so — but we are not here to please everyone.
How it is made · my grandfather's roller press
The family
press
Whole crates of grapes go straight into the old hand press: you crush them and put them in the press, stems and berries together. The stems act as a natural filter and the juice comes out at low pressure — only the best is extracted, gently.
Then fermentation in steel at 17-18°C, selected yeasts, sulphites to a minimum. A wine that celebrates the biodiversity of these hills, distinctive for its almond finish and its plain-spokenness.

A different Grechetto
Plenty of people consider Grechetto an anonymous grape. I try to pull something different out of it: an elegant wine you still recognize as Grechetto — with that bitter finish on the palate that is its signature.
Some people like it and some don’t, but we are not here to please everyone.— Giorgio Brunozzi
